MYSOFASCIAL RELEASE

elatively new treatment offers many benefits including Neutralisation of posture and alignment and Restoration of optimal myofascial length-tension relationships

Myofascial Release

A relatively new therapy to the UK, Myofascial Release ( Myo: muscle,  fascia: connective tissue) is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained and gentle pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion by relaxing the deep tissue of the body providing lasting and effective pain relief.

Fascia is a strong, connective tissue that spreads throughout the entire body. Fascia is similar to the threads in a fabric. It is an interwoven, fibrous net that covers and encapsulates every structure in the body including bones, muscles, organs, nerves, and blood vessels—all the way down to the cellular level. Fascia surrounds every single cell in the body!

Myfascial Release (MFR) treatment is performed directly on the skin without oils or creams. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate the release of the fascia. A posture analysis is performed to assess the restrictions.  Many people believe that there is a “No pain, no gain” mentality in any manual therapy session, however, myofascial release is generally an extremely mild and gentle form of stretching that has a profound effect upon the body tissues.

The treatment is performed with the therapist applying various techniques within the body’s limits, never forcing the body beyond its natural range of motion.

The Benefits of MFR

Myofascial release plays a significant role in injury prevention, rehabilitation and optimising function. Here are the main benefits of MFR:

Reduction in pain

Increase in range and quality of motion

Neutralisation of posture and alignment

Restoration of optimal myofascial length-tension relationships

Facilitates movement efficiency and restore muscle function
